We saw several of our pup pals when we attended the
3rd Annual Doggy Party on the Plaza, this Saturday, April 21, at
CityCentre hosted by
PetTalk. We saw celebrity emcees--
Deborah Duncan of
Great Day Houston,
Casey Curry of
ABC's Channel 13 News, and
Laura Reynolds on Mix 95 along with over 50 vendors who showcased all-things-dog and raised money and awareness for local rescue groups like
Lucky Dog Rescue and
Lone Star Shih-Tzu and Lhasa Apso (who also organized an amazing raffle). There was also a RESCUE LANE and about a dozen adoption booths. We also saw a no-kill awareness booth for
Friends For Life.
It was good to see that the
City of Houston was there.
BARC and the
Mayor Annise Parker was the Grand Marshal of the Rescue Me! Parade competition. Eight area rescues competed for more than $6,000 in prizes for their rescue program including veterinary care, pet food, grooming, training, and boarding donated by incredible local pet businesses.
It was the most beautiful day in Houston and a perfect day to make a difference by caring and saving lives by supporting the rescue groups. The event was sponsored by
Houston Dog Ranch,
Arne’s Warehouse, Petco and
Carter’s Pet Depot. Waste removal provided by
All About Doody. Thanks to all the volunteers, non-profits, and businesses for the well-organized, dog-friendly event.
